Privacy contact
Contact contact@rentuknumber.com with privacy questions or requests about information processed when you use Rent UK Number.
Information used to provide the service
We receive information you provide, information generated when you use the service and information from the providers that help us operate it.
If you send a message to a number used by one of our customers, we receive the message content, sender details and delivery information through our telecommunications suppliers. The customer who receives that message may also have its own privacy responsibilities and policy.
- Account information: email address, account identifier, display name and profile image where supplied by your sign-in provider. Firebase handles email/password and Google authentication.
- Number and message information: assigned numbers, service periods, incoming message text, sender information and delivery timestamps. Message content may include customer details or verification codes.
- Purchase information: selected plan and quantity, payment and subscription references, billing email, payment status and paid service dates. Card details are entered on Stripe’s hosted pages.
- Support information: account email, subject, message and submission time when you contact us. Do not include passwords, full payment-card details or verification codes in a support request.
- Technical information: requests needed to operate and protect the website and API, including network, device and browser information processed by our hosting and network providers.
Why we use information
We use account, payment and message information to provide the service you request, authenticate access, assign numbers, deliver messages, manage subscriptions and respond to service enquiries. Where applicable, our legal basis is performing our contract with you or taking steps you request before a contract.
Where information relates to a sender or another person who is not a party to our contract, we consider the legitimate interests in delivering the requested communication and operating the inbox, together with that person’s rights. We use necessary technical and account information for our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure, preventing misuse, resolving problems and handling disputes. We also process information where needed to comply with legal obligations.
Website and checkout analytics helps us understand visits, device types, approximate countries, basic button interactions and completed initial purchases. Public website analytics starts automatically as described below. Information required for account, payment or message delivery is necessary for those features to work.
Service providers and information sharing
We use Google Firebase for authentication and data storage, Google Analytics for website and checkout measurement, Stripe for payments and billing, Render for hosting, Cloudflare for network and website services, and telecommunications suppliers for number and SMS delivery. These providers process the information needed for their roles. Their own privacy terms may also apply where they act independently, such as for payment compliance.
Incoming messages are processed on our servers and stored for your account; this is not an end-to-end encrypted messaging service. Access is restricted to the account and to authorised operational access needed to run or support the service.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Service providers may process information outside your country. Contact us for information about processing locations and applicable international-transfer arrangements.
How long information is kept
Retention depends on the purpose of the record, the duration of the account or service, unresolved support or payment issues, and applicable legal or accounting requirements. Browser cookie and storage lifetimes are described below; those lifetimes do not determine how long provider reports are retained.
Ending a subscription closes number and inbox access; it does not automatically delete stored messages, account records or support requests. A later customer assigned the same number receives a separate inbox and cannot access your previous messages.
There is currently no self-service account deletion or data export screen. Contact contact@rentuknumber.com to request access, a copy or deletion of your information. We review the request and any records that must be retained under applicable law; cancelling a subscription and requesting deletion are separate actions.
Cookies and browser storage
The private application uses a secure session cookie to keep you signed in. Its configured lifetime is normally five days, and signing out clears the browser cookie. Temporary browser storage also preserves a plan selection or an in-progress checkout; a saved purchase intention is valid for up to 30 minutes.
Session and purchase information is used to operate the features you request. Public website analytics uses separate cookies. You can manage cookies and storage in your browser, but blocking necessary session storage can prevent sign-in or interrupt checkout.
Website analytics
Google Analytics through Firebase starts automatically on this public website to help us understand page visits and basic button clicks. We record a fixed source label for recognised search or AI websites, direct visits, internal links or other sources; we do not send the referring URL or its query parameters. Google Analytics uses browser cookies and collects information such as device and browser details and approximate country. Analytics cookies last up to 180 days.
When checkout measurement is enabled, a short-lived cookie carries the public website’s Google Analytics browser and session identifiers to our account application for up to 30 minutes. Links explicitly tagged as Google paid search may also carry a fixed Google Ads source label; raw campaign parameters and advertising click identifiers are not sent. Our server can then report checkout starts and verified initial purchases, including the plan, quantity, GBP order value and a separate transaction reference used to prevent duplicate purchase reports. Pending measurement data expires after 72 hours and is removed by our scheduled cleanup. Subscription renewals are not reported as new purchases. We do not send account identifiers, email addresses, phone numbers, SMS content, verification codes, card details or Stripe payment references to Analytics. The private account and inbox pages do not load Analytics or report page views.
We use aggregate reports to evaluate visits and the checkout journey. Browser and session identifiers are pseudonymous, not names or verified account identities. Visitor counts are estimates of measured browsers and sessions. Browser privacy controls and content blockers can prevent measurement without affecting access to the website or checkout. Separately, we send internal operational alerts for Get a number button clicks, checkout starts and successful number assignments. These alerts contain fixed action labels and, for checkout and assignment, the plan, quantity and order total; they do not contain account identities, email addresses, phone numbers, message content or card details.
Regional content
Our server supplies a country code to choose the brands shown in the homepage logo strip. Supported regions are the United Kingdom, United States, Türkiye, Germany and France. When no supported country code is available, the United States selection is used.
The rentuknumber_visitor_country cookie stores only this country code for up to 30 days. It remembers the regional brand display; it does not change number availability, pricing or account access.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the law that applies and the circumstances, you may ask to access, correct, erase or receive a portable copy of your information, restrict its use, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Send requests to contact@rentuknumber.com. We may need information to verify your identity before releasing or changing account data. We respond within the timescales required by applicable law.
You may complain to your local data protection authority. In the United Kingdom this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Your right to object
You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. Email contact@rentuknumber.com to explain your request. We will consider it under the applicable data protection rules.
Service scope
Incoming SMS only. Calls and outgoing SMS are not included.
Third-party brands and logo credits
Brand names identify regional examples and services in illustrative message previews. No affiliation, endorsement or guaranteed service acceptance is implied.
Logo files are served by this website. Displaying them does not make your browser request logo files from third-party brand sites or logo CDNs.
The message previews are original, synthetic examples of customer enquiries, order and delivery questions, support requests and verification codes. Names and order details in the business examples are fictional. Verification examples are inspired by publicly documented verification flows. These are not real customer messages or live activity. Actual wording, sender names and delivery methods can vary.
